Despite Florence Welch's face being plastered all over London, despite the recommendation from a Swedish friend, and despite her name and style popping up in every English fashion magazine, I have only recently sat down and listened to Florence & the Machine's 2009 album Lungs.

It's a phenomenal album that showcases the band's abilities. From alternative pop to soul-rooted songs, Florence & the Machine has a wide musical capacity. It's hard to pick just a few songs to say our my favorite and I recommend buying the whole album, but "Dog Days are Over," "You've Got the Love," and "Between Two Lungs" are three of my most listened to.

Florence Welch can rock. She's got the pipes and can move from slow and soft to powerful and fierce within just a few beats. If the winter has gotten you tired and restless of your apartment and same old music, buy Lungs and mix things up.
